CERTIFICATION BASED ON FSMA REGULATIONS
To participate in the Qualified Importers Volunteer Program
The regulation of the Food Security Modernization Act (FSMA) on a third-party certification establishes a voluntary program for certification bodies accreditation which allows them to conduct food safety audits and issue certificates to foreign entities that produce food for human and animal consumption. The purpose of the requirements is to guarantee the competence and independence of the accreditation organisms and participants certification.
The FSMA specifies two uses for a third-party program certification:
- To participate in the Qualified Importers Volunteer Program (VQIP), which ease the food safety revision.
- To handle FDA demands when an import food request to have third-party certification of an accredited third-party organism.
*Global Standards request to carry out unannounced audits to the client and notify FDA if a condition causes or contributes a public health danger.
Audits and scope of Global Standards FSAP
There are two types of audits that we conduct under the third-party certification program: a consulting and regulatory audit. In both cases, the auditors test the compliance with GlobalSTD program requirements. TPP is based on the FDA FSMA regulations. A consultative audit is conducted as a preparation step for a regulatory one. It’s optional and for internal use basis, the regulatory audit can be the base for the certification.
Accredited scopes for a certification:
| Part 112 | a standard for the cultivation, harvesting, packaging, and storing of products for human consumption. |
| Part 117 | Updated Good Manufacture Practices, danger analysis and preventive control based on food risks for humans. |
| Part 120 | HACCP (juices) |
| Part 123 | HACCP (seafood) |
